Business Opportunities in Biodiversity Conservation

Dr Francis Vorhies is the executive director of Earthmind, a non-profit organisation focusing the nexus between biodiversity conservation, business and economic development. He also manages the Verified Conservation Areas (VCA) Platform which recognize conservation in the areas where we live and work.
In the early 2000s, he was the CEO of the Earthwatch Institute in the UK and before that the chief economist of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Switzerland. He has also worked for the African Wildlife Foundation in Kenya and set up Eco Plus in South Africa to advise the conservation industry on economic policy and business strategy.
Dr Vorhies has a PhD in Economics from the University of Colorado and a Diploma in Integrated Environmental Management from the University of Cape Town. He is a member of IUCN Commission specialist groups on sustainable wildlife and conservation finance. His hometown is Chicago and today he lives in France, near Geneva, Switzerland.
