Dawn Bazely
Dawn Bazely is a biology professor in York University's Faculty of Science. She received the title of University Professor in 2017. Dawn has worn many academic hats since joining York in 1990. She directed the university-wide Institute for Research in Sustainability (IRIS, 2006-2014). Dawn has diversified her areas of research expertise beyond her grass biologist beginnings. Her doctorate from Oxford University applied economic models to sheep grazing behaviour.
Dawn has received many teaching awards. In 2022, she received the Royal Canadian Institute for Science’s Sandford Fleming Medal. She will be the 2024-25 Fulbright Canada Distinguished Visiting Professor to Yale University.
She is the 2024-25 Fulbright Canada Distinguished Professor and the Canadian Bicentennial Visiting Professor at Yale University where one of her duties is to teach an undergraduate course. The title of her Environmental Studies Advanced Seminar is Canada’s Approach to Global Environmental Wicked Problems. Dawn hopes you will ask her about Wicked Problems.
